[February 2]Mexican officials have issued warrants for five people for attempted trafficking of undocumented people and organized crime,Four of the five are also accused of counterfeiting, Cynthia Ann Vanier Canadian, Danish Christian Pierre Flensborg, and Mexicans Dávila Gabriela Kennedy Huerta and Jose Luis Prieto at the Center of the PGR in the Federal District.. The group hired pilots to fly from Mexico to Kosovo, from there to the Tunisian capital of Tunis and on to Libya in July, but that attempt failed to extract the dictator’s son. “They weren’t able to do it out because the pilots refused to carry out a secret landing,” Salinas said.
Mexican authorities said the accused then “decided to organize a second trip with more secure planes with which they could carry out the extraction,” according to a rough translation of the release.
The suspects allegedly contracted a private aviation company and “from that moment until the capture of the accused on the 10th and 11th of November they were organizing themselves with a view to carrying out this end,” the release said.Mr. Salinas added that Mexican authorities also received anonymous e-mail tips that led them to make arrests before the alleged second plane trip.
Ms. Vanier and a female co-defendant have been taken to a penitentiary in Chetumal, in the state of Quintana Roo, while two men were sent to a prison in Veracruz, The procedure to determine whether they will be placed on trial or released will take at least another 10 days.
